During the enforcement operation in Sector 26, three trucks vending coconuts and watermelons illegally in outer areas were seized and impounded for obstructing public pathways and violating municipal regulations. Simultaneously, the MC team conducted drives in Sector 34 Furniture Market and the outer area of Sector 22. Near Kisan Bhawan, an unauthorized ice-cream vendor operating from a rehri was also confiscated.
Overall, the enforcement teams issued 53 challans to violators for illegal vending and encroachment. The drive successfully cleared major corridors in Sector 34 Furniture Market and Sector 22 outer areas, restoring free movement for pedestrians and vehicles.
MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, stated that such strict enforcement drives will continue regularly to maintain the planned character, cleanliness, and order of Chandigarh. He appealed to residents and market associations to cooperate with the civic authorities and discourage unauthorized vending in public areas.
The drive underscores the MC’s commitment to upholding municipal regulations, ensuring public safety, and preserving the city’s infrastructure from illegal encroachments, while enhancing accessibility and convenience for citizens.
