An 18-year-old girl was killed in a tragic road accident after a speeding truck hit her scooter in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune. The shocking incident, which occurred on the evening of March 5, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
The victim has been identified as Anjali Shankar Salve, a resident of the locality. According to preliminary information, Anjali was riding her scooter around 6 pm when the accident took place. The CCTV footage reportedly shows her riding along the road when a speeding truck suddenly approached from behind and rammed into her scooter.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot immediately after the accident. However, Anjali had already succumbed to her injuries by the time help arrived. The incident created panic and chaos in the area as shocked onlookers gathered at the accident site.
Police from the Pimpri-Chinchwad jurisdiction reached the spot soon after receiving information about the crash. Officials launched an investigation and reviewed the CCTV footage to understand the exact sequence of events.
The truck driver, identified as Rajpal Kasbe, was arrested shortly after the incident. Police officials said that he has been booked for rash and negligent driving resulting in death. Authorities have also taken action against the owner of the transport company associated with the truck for allegedly failing to follow required safety regulations.
